The Darling of Iranian Left, Nasser Zarafshan

'As a journalist you seem to have a positive inclination towards Capitalism, are you aware that the 'importers of democracy and human rights' in Iraq have also organised a squadron of deviant American homosexuals whose mission is to rape Iraqi children between 10 and 16 years of age?'

Original text in Persian:
آیا شما به عنوان یک روزنامه نگار که پیدا است نظر مساعدی هم نسبت به نظام سرمایه داری دارید، خبر دارید که این واردکنندگان دموکراسی و حقوق بشر به عراق، اسکادرانی از هموسکسوئل های منحرف امریکایی سازماندهی کرده و آن را با ماموریت تجاوز به کودکان ۱۰ تا ۱۶ ساله عراقی به عراق فرستاده اند؟

If you thought the person who made the above statement in an interview is one of Iran's eccentric reactionary mullahs or Ahmadinejad has been making a speech at Columbia university again, then you are mistaken. The statement above is made by Dr. Nasser Zarafshan, the darling of the few Iranian Left that are left! The statement was made in reply to the question 'Since you attribute so many actions by Neocons to Capitalism itself, can it also be said that much of Stalin's actions are attributed to Marxism?'

But Zarafshan has not just been the darling of the Iranian Left, his Leftist Iranian supporters have also managed to convince so many of the Western Leftists, like Laura Rozens and Motherjones type publications, that any Iranian dissident who Zarafshan scolds must be scolded by them too for the sake of the international struggle of the Proletariat!
In this article http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature/2006/11/fakhravar.html Laura Rozen refers to Zarafshan as 'one of Iran’s most prominent human rights attorneys' :))

If this Zarafshan individual does indeed attribute the actions of the Neocons to capitalism, then he is simply misled. Capitalism is purely an economic philosophy, not political - though it can, in some circumstances, be buttressed by a political system. Marxism on the other hand (which is not where Stalin derived his sinister motivations) is inherently a socioeconomic and political philosophy.

Also, Zarafshan might not understand that American society is not capitalistic. Unchecked capitalism failed in the 1930s, and one can argue even before that. That's why we have the Federal Reserve, the FDIC, regulatory laws (economic and environmental), we determine how much currency is in circulation, and so forth. Oh, and not to mention the ongoing episode...

Although Zarafshan's response is a tad bit extreme, you can nonetheless identify where his disenchantment with the "varadkonandegan-e democracy va hughugh-e bashar" comes from.

Indeed, American soldiers and private contractors alike have raped young women and children, and killed their families. That is not to say that this is American policy, or that the executive branch sanctions such actions, it's simply a matter of fact. And if you don't live in America, or the UK, when you read something along the lines of "14 year old girl raped and family killed in front of her by Marines," what would you think?

This war stands against everything, including human rights and democracy. I don't espouse this Zarafshan's character's views, but I understand his frustration.

barmakid

p.s. Say something Winston, you racist bastard.

It is interesting how Mr. Zarafshan portrays himself as an intellectual and yet makes such preposterous comments.

Stop bullying United States Mr. Zarafshan, this great nation is home to many Iranian Americans who have made excellent accomplishments in every field because of the opportunities it was presented to them.

I know that he is a Stalinist and a very far left idiot. As long as morons like him are around, the future of democracy in Iran is doomed and dark.

With intellectuals like this no wonder Ahmadinejad is the president of Iran!

Barmakir, when did UK marines rape a 14 year old Iraqi girl in front of her family? What the fuck are you on about?

Anonymous said...

You didn't translate the rest of the paragaraph where Zarafshan claims special dogs have been trained in America solely to bite off the Iraqi prisoners' penis :)))))))

potkin - maybe you should do a poiece on PressTV now on Sky Channel 515 and the UK presenters who have gone to work for the Islamic Republic.

Also have you read the piece on Harry's Place about the event being held at Durham University by the Islamic Republic.

All these actions are part of a co-ordinated campaign of propaganda by the Islamic dictatorship. These efforts must be opposed by all Iranians who love freedom and democracy!

Ukreader,

Maybe you should change your name, because apparently you don't read. Does that sound so out of the realm of possibility to you that a Marine could do that? I bet you listen to George Bush speeches too, haha - I can just tell you're an idiot.

Choose what publication you would like to read the story on, it occurred about two years ago and all the soldiers involved were court marshaled and sentenced already. I suggest the New York Times article.

After you realize you're an idiot, maybe you should visit Liveleak.com and watch some other gruesome videos of US soldiers doing horrible things to Iraqi children, pets, and so on...

Once you realize that these things are actually not so surprising, maybe you can begin to understand the points of view of people like Zarafshan...

be salamat,
barmakid

p.s. I should disclose that I'm not "blaming America," like Zarafshan is, I'm just highlighting how people like him garner their views.

Barmakir,

Because of the freedom of press and the democracy in US, that isolated incident was exposed and the US courts have sentenced the culprits, had that happened by the Russians in Chechnya which I am sure it has, you would not even have heard about it and if a reporter tried to expose it, they would have been killed by Putin's men. So go and thank your lucky stars that your parents moved to US and brought you up there.

The other cases you have linked to turned out to be hoaxes and newspapers had been duped by pictures from a pornsite which they apologised about later.

UKjagoff,

Yet again, you succeed terrifically in displaying your idiocy. First of all, of course it would seem like an isolated case to you because you didn't even know about it. Second, Russia is not a standard of comparison. (Just like we don't like to compare the rights of Iranian women to Saudi women).

Would you like me to post a dozen more incidents? Just say the word loser...

barmakid,

p.s. Get a clue.

And btw, those links work perfectly fine. Eat it.

Barmakir or OBama's kir, read what I said. Didn't say the links didn't work. I said there were newspapers who were duped by pictures printed in a porn site you idiot!

Barmakid, the very fact that the few bad apples in question have faced the consequences of their actions in courts of law and that the NYTimes openly covers incidents like this is a testament not just to primacy of the rule of law in the US, but also to the vigilance of men and women who sacrifice so much so the rest of us - including you - can be free.

So yes, horrible things happen in wars. But don't overgeneralize: our troops are, for the most part, some of the most generous, courageous folks in our society.

What does that have to do with anything? Maybe you should learn how to coherently relay your thoughts before you jump ahead of yourself and call other people idiots.

God damn you don't know shit. Based on your responses I would say your 19 years old, but I bet your an old schmuck who never learned how to organize his thoughts. Fool.

Mehdi, don't depair. Man ghahremanemoon mesham:))... and when I do, I'll throw a shout out for you Azarmehr... and I'll let my criticism of your nonsensical views stop on the blog:)) Cuz I'll be taking pages from Obama's playbook, who, in turn, took pages from Abraham Lincoln's playbook. And yuo'll know it's me when you hear me say:

NA KAKH! NA MASJID! FAGHAT PEESHRAFTEH MARDOMET!!

Baramkid,

Just the thought of you becoming our ghahremAn is a dismal and gloomy thought and guaranteed to give millions a severe depression :)) Perhaps you can one day if you really try hard can become another Zarafshan at the most optimistic view :)

Just because you write a slogan as a comment on my blog you think you are Abraham Lincoln or Obama now?? Boy you have so much more work to do ahead of you :))
Why don't you start to take a very small step from point zero, where you are now, by expanding on HOW you will want to bring peeshrafte mardom?

Also did Lincoln not live in the White House, which is a Kakh and is Obama not moving into Kakhe Sefid?

How about all these countries where they have Kakhs and their people are really comfortable?

In fact the one leader where I can think of who does not live in a palace but instead lives in a tent, is Libya. Has that brought progress for Libyans? Is that what you want?

Very warped logic you have.

p.s. I too didn't turn up to think like my dad as you know, neither should you and you should have an inquisitive and not a conformist mind. As you rightly say you have different experiences, hopefuly however by reading my blog and listening to your dad's experiences you will learn more and we can knock some sense into you :)))

Sohrab,

Honestly, you need to take it easy. If you read my comments I clearly did not associate those events with American policy, and, in fact, said explicitly otherwise.

I was born in Texas, I gained my education in the USA, every time I have a discussion I don't need to "wave the American flag." I know what rights I have, YOU DON"T NEED TO TELL ME. I work in electoral politics, well I did (we lost the election:(( )

When you respond like that, it shows me you have no legitimate argument to make. And if you really thought like that and truly cherished those rights and values, you would join me in denouncing the Bush administration, i.e. Douglas Feith, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, Donald Rumsfield, William Crystol and the rest of the dingbats who thought they knew something. THEY MANIPULATED OUR DEMOCRACY, OUR INCLINATION TO TRUST OUR GOVERNMENT AT A TIME OF CRISIS, and they ruined our image abroad.

So please, don't tell me "at least I'm free and have the right to talk about it." You're God damn right I do, and I will continue to talk about it the way I do as long as there are people like you out there who think W. is a visionary and did our country well.

And to Anonymous (who is probably Winston),

Do you think I can't read Farsi? If you wanted to make a private appeal to Azarmehr to stop publishing my comments you should have e-mailed him. I hate to compliment him:), but I have more faith in him than that - apparently more than you put in him if you think he'll stop publishing my comments. That defeats the whole purpose of a blog you retard (no offense to your profession Sohrab, seriously).

Actually, we get most of our weed imported from Mexico :))

The wheels are coming off Barmakid. He's sounding more shrill and seething than ever. It's okay, it's because Obama did not appoint Bernie Sanders to Defense and Dennis Kucinich to State!

Azarmehr said...

Barmakid,

It looks like your choice of weed has now explained a lot of your warped logic :)))

I am glad I always stayed away from that shit :)

Oh man, how cool would that have been if Dennis Kucinich was Secretary of State!! Him and Ron Paul are my two most favorite politicians - the philosopher-kings of Congress:))
