Iran Poet Sentenced to Three Years Prison

Iran's nationalist poet, Mostafa Badkoobei aka Omid, was today sentenced to three years prison and five years ban from reciting poetry in public.

Badkoobei is an expert on Iranian literature. He has written 29 books to date on Iran's history and literature. Many of them have sold out and been re-printed several times.

Mostafa Badkoobei has even appeared on Iran's state TV to talk about the great Persian poet, Hafiz.
His patriotic poems stir great passions in the audience and crowds rise to standing ovation for him. His poetry recitals have been uploaded on youtube and have received several hundred thousand hits:

One wonders why such a patriotic Iranian poet is sentenced to prison and the answer can only be that those who rule Iran are alien occupiers of Iran, determined to destroy the Iranian culture and heritage.

Like I said before, whenever a power is afraid of simple words, than one word need only be applied to it: Dictatorship! If you want the true voice of the Iranian Regime these days, than look no further than PressTV's Webpage Comments. The 1984 Orwellian Newspeak. Full of Regime kiss arse sycophants and bigoted nasty hatreds against it's perceived enemies. For a country that loves it's poets, why does the word suppression of such a Big Brother tyranny still rule over them!

I am not defending Badkoobei's imprisonment, but the man has said some pretty racist things about Arabs. While I'd defend his right to say them, he's not someone I'd laud as a great poet. Does Iranian nationalism necessarily entail hatred of Arabs?

Bullshit! Show me one racist thing he has said. That must be your own interpretation

How is that racist you pillock? He was mocking the idiot on Iranian state TV who was saying the only language spoken in Heaven is Arabic! I think to say that, is more racist than anything else

He even says before reciting his poem that all the human race is equal and no race is above the other.
Badkoubehi is also fluent in Arabic himself
